Why y'all be hatin' feminism?

Okay so recently I've been encountering alot of feminism related polls or discussion posts or threads, and the common theme with all of them is how both the males and females are against feminism. They think it's a bad thing. This a.) blows my mind b.) hurts more than I thought it would. This may be the whole 'the-men-in-my-life-have-never-respected-me-as-an-equal-person' thing talking, but hey who am I to complain. I have the right to vote, I should be happy with that. my fore-mothers fought to exchange comfort for freedom didn't they...oh wait the fought for freedom because they didn't have comfort or freedom I forget these things sometimes seeing as how I'm just an emotional woman.

But seriously when did this start, feminism as a bad thing? When did the fight for equality become too 'harmful'? Since when did it become okay to say that we did our job as feminists when we earned the right to vote? Since when was it okay to settle?

The main thing that brought this along was that today I saw a post complaining about women who thought is would be more fair to mothers if they were granted a five year paid maternity leave. Apparently even one year to much to ask for, to this person we should 'stop bitching' settle with what we have. I guess we don't deserve to get a job that pays less than it would for a man in the same position if we want to take care of our own babies.

I just....sometimes it feels like the world is telling me I should be ashamed for being born with a uterus.
